Recap of Anime Expo 2019

Over 350,000 people from over 60 different countries around the world flocked to the Los Angeles Convention Center to attend Anime Expo 2019. This year’s convention was a massive event of epic proportions. It featured an exhibit hall with over 400 exhibitors, an artists’ alley with over 500 artists, and an exclusive screening of the newest Pokemon movie. As much as the event provided great entertainment and goodies, all of the cosplayers and passionate fans contributed to a vibrant celebration of anime and Japanese culture.

When asked about the allure of Anime Expo, organizer Meg Tsuruda responded, “[It’s] definitely the art. The art is very beautiful and people are drawn to it.” Beyond the art, there’s also the story component that attracts people from all walks of life. “Anime covers all sorts of different genres; there’s anime for kids and adults. You name it, there’s something for everyone,” she added.

Indeed, there was a high turnout of gamers in the entertainment hall as well as iBUYPOWER’s booth. Over the course of four days, hundreds of attendees stopped by our booth to check out our iBUYPOWER PCs and get their gaming on. They played Rocket League against their friends in a 1v1 duel, tried out Devils May Cry and Resident Evil 2 on the RDY systems, and booted up competitive games such as League of Legends and Overwatch in the Free to Play area. Many of them went away with cool prizes such as an iBUYPOWER keyboard, mouse, pin, pen, wristband, Western Digital headband, and even the rare Pokemon power bank. Two lucky winners left with SSDs per day and the winner of the Vertagear gaming chair will be announced soon.

There was even a special guest appearance by the band Hyper Potions. They met and took pictures with their fans, and played Rocket League with them.

Overall, every participant seemed to have a blast at our booth and Anime Expo. Our staff certainly enjoyed being a part of the celebration and were thrilled to meet all the gaming and anime fans who showed up. Shout out to our partners AMD, Western Digital, Aorus, Hyper Potions, and Toyota Racing Development for making this event a great success.
