Power Ranking Methodology

These rankings were provided by a committee of people that offer different views in the Rocket League Community. We use a system similar to the Associated Press power rankings for College Football or Basketball – a panel of writers vote on who they think should be listed and an average is produced from these rankings. The members of this committee consider several factors when determining their rankings and the competitive results data that is referenced comes from the past few weeks. Each member of the committee has their own method for how they rank the teams, though they are consistent and similar.

POWER RANKINGS

#1 FlipSid3 Tactics: Markydooda / Kuxir97 / M1k3rules |

Maintaining the status quo of being consistently #1 seems to be a comfort spot for Flipsid3 Tactics. While F3 have definitely shown signs of being able to be beaten in GFinity they have proven to us that their consistency of placing in top 4 of tournaments that they do belong in this spot. Even though they didn’t participate in the big mock-it tournament that just about everyone and their mothers played in, we can’t dock them too much for not playing. With RLC Pro League playoffs this upcoming weekend sees them facing Untethered and any result there will have a big impact in regards to how we place them in next week’s rankings. Will we see C&J, SA, or myXMG take this spot away from them? Time will tell. -MrLittleThor

#2 Crown & Jewels: Paschy90 / Yeezy / Killerno7 / Sikiicem / Scrub Killa | Up 2

This week sees a startling jump for the new-and-improved Crown & Jewels team. With the recent announcement that the team has acquired one of EU’s top free agents, Scrub Killa, the team put their new roster to the practice in Gfinity, coming up just shy of overall victory with a 4-3 series loss to a Supersonic Avengers duo featuring Remkoe in the lineup. While Scrub Killa will not be allowed to play with C&J during the RLC Pro League Playoffs this Sunday, we can expect big things out of this team going forward and a very excited cheerleader on the sidelines rooting for his new team to emerge victorious in the one-day playoff event. -Shalthis

#3 Supersonic Avengers: ELMP / gReazy / Maestro / Snaski |

With the regular RLC Pro League season having come to an end last week, there wasn’t much for the full Supersonic Avengers squad to do. Some of their members paired up with former Spectral member Remkoe as they made a successful run through Gfinity, but other than that it has been fairly quiet for the Avengers members. They see no movement in the top 10 this week, but do have a chance to climb the rankings with a big performance in the RPL Playoffs on Sunday, where they face off against NA’s #1 team, Kings of Urban, in the very first round. What the future after RPL holds for this team is hard to say, but they’ve consistently made a solid name for themselves even outside of the Pro League. -Shalthis

#4 myXMG: al0t / Sniperkid138 / Turbopolsa | Down 2

myXMG was a tale of two teams last week:

On one side, we see a modified roster containing Al0t, Sniperkid and miztik who went on a happy little romp through GFinity under the name Giggle Pig. That team configuration dispatched NA’s Kings of Urban in 5 games, who crossed the pond for the occasion. “myXMGiggle Pig” made it to the semifinals before losing out to We Dem Boyz (a 2/3rds SA squad plus remkoe), who ended up taking 1st place.

On the other, we see another modified roster, this time with Turbopulsa, Sniperkid and miztik (but still using the myXMG name) playing in Mock-It. Playing on NA servers they were able to sweep an EU cusp Tranquility & Turbulence squad before being swept themselves 2-0 by Untethered and getting knocked out of the tournament by the newly-formed Klamascih.

Even on NA servers, I did expect better from myXMG. With them not playing a single game this week with their standard roster, though, assessing myXMG has not been easy. Their recent success with miztik, who was in both team configurations this week, does show considerable potential, but ends up asking more questions than it answers from a rankings perspective. I also want to commend myXMG for getting in some competitive matches on the NA server in anticipation of their first round RLC Pro League Playoff matchup against iBP Cosmic. This promises to be a very hard-fought battle, especially given that the phenomenal Cosmic power of iBP has not been up to the usual standards in the last few weeks. -DMRawlings

#5 The 3 Musketeers: ViolentPanda / Ryuk / Krazack |

“Time, dear friend, time brings round opportunity; opportunity is the martingale of man. The more we have ventured the more we gain, when we know how to wait.” — Alexandre Dumas

After the tear that The 3 Musketeers went on last week, traipsing undefeated through team after team on their way to the GFinity finals and winning ESL that placed them at #5 on the power rankings I was left wondering: are these guys for real? Well… one week later, and I have to admit that I remain impressed. In ESL they dashed the hopes of Dot Dot Dot, taking them 3 to 1, and then defended their ESL Championship Belt against up-and-coming Lose Much Rating. In GFinity T3M did have an early exit; in the Round of 16 they were narrowly defeated 3-2 by a modified myXMG roster consisting of Al0t, Sniperkid and miztik. The 3 Musketeers have stood united, and proven, at least for now, that they belong in the top half of the power rankings. -DMRawlings

#6 Noble eSports: Vogan / meepS / ? |

Noble were in a figure skating tournament this week, so they were unable to participate in any Rocket League tournaments. They are currently ranked #2 in the EU figure skating power rankings, which is probably why they’re spending more effort on that instead. Whilst their pirouettes and somersaults are on point, the same cannot be said for their dragon slaying abilities. With only a level 13 broadsword and a level 12 Stormstrike heavy armour set in their arsenal, it was no surprise that they fell to the almighty dragon Gorgulak. Also, Vogan forgot to pack the extra pouch of health potions for the journey, so that didn’t help things either. This task took like 17 hours to attempt and they failed right at the end, so the team are really on edge right now, tension is rising and they’re bored of grinding for mystic sheep wool. Will they be able to hold on until next week where they can try their luck at the Smithsonian Wrangler quest? If they succeed there, they’ll get like 2 gold coins and a packet of Haribos. -Doomsee

#7 SK Gaming: X3MW / Dadooh / JHZER |

There’s almost nothing of note to mention for SK, and likely won’t be for many weeks to come. They played neither Gfinity or ESL together, and their failure to qualify for the RLC Pro League playoffs has meant that they no longer compete in any tournaments together. They barely maintain a place on the power ranking due to previous successes but it is likely that in the very near future, they’ll be ousted from the rankings in place of more active and successful teams, unless a shakeup of the roster occurs. This however is not probable for quite a considerable amount of time. -Lunation

#8 Comrade Gaming: Gontho / O.S.P. / Juuksey / ll_Musketeers_ll | Up 2

The branch cracked under Kevin’s heavy boot, which echoed around the forest. There was not a creature nor prositute in sight. Tall trees went on for miles, getting more and more groovy as they went on, yet no matter how far he travelled, there was never enough groove to sustain Kevin’s heart. He treached on for hours, hoping for at least a disco ball or two, but alas, there were none to be found. Just when all hope was lost, all rations were out, and he finished listening to the complete soundtrack of Gone in 60 Seconds, there was a faint sound coming from somewhere deep in the forest. It was hard to make out what it was, but Kevin seemed to think it sounded like the voice of Maurice White. With a new spring in his step, Kevin  legged it through the trees, stacking it on like 20 trunks on the way, but he didn’t give a crap, he wanted to groove so f’ing hard. The sweet buttery voice of Maurice White became as clear as day when an opening in the trees revealed itself. A new light was shining through, as if it was beckoning Kevin to groove his way into the opening. Kevin’s leg began to twitch to the beat. Do you remember? Do you remember the 21st night of September? How could he forget? That was only the grooviest date imaginable. Without a second thought Kevin moonwalked his way through the opening and on the other side he saw it. The epihany of groove. Standing in an open field, bathed in glorious sunlight, with the sound of tweeting birds in the background, he was there. Maurice White stared directly at Kevin, smiled, and said, “Comrade Gaming are 8th in the power rankings. Suck it Team Rocket. -Doomsee

#9 Lose Much Rating: bounty / Hank / Never Lucky | New

This team has found its first foray into the top 10 and it’s primarily due to their success in ESL this past weekend. Some people might recognize LMR as being one of the teams that has been always on the outside looking in regards to our power rankings but they definitely proved themselves worthy this past weekend. En Route to the second place spot in ESL Lose Much Rating – known as LMR – had beaten notable teams – such as FireWall and Comrade – while losing out to The 3 Musketeers who have been seemingly unbeatable in ESL. In order for this team to climb anymore up the rankings I would love to see them try to conquer the GFinity gauntlet to show that they hang with the big boys. Watch this team in the future. -MrLittleThor

#10 Team Rocket: Doomsee / Cole / Wrong_Way_Woody / Oneill | New

After a fairly long hiatus, Team Rocket climb back into the top 10 due entirely due to external circumstances with other teams. Both Spectral and AneVia are now without full rosters meaning they’re excluded from the power rankings and thus TR lose competition from those two teams. Not only this but eSportsWall’s roster is fairly uncertain right now as well and so their instability has meant TR climb another spot. As for TR’s tournament performances this week are concerned, they played in both ESL and Gfinity. In ESL, the only vaguely notable win was against a roster partly containing some remnants of the dissolved French rosters of AneVia and eSportsWall. Other than this they lost 0-3 to Comrade in the quarter finals and shows both Comrade’s continued rise up the rankings as a solid consistent team, and TR’s inability to show any meaningful results due to their sole reliance on Doomsee to carry them. In Gfinity they fell in round 3 to We Dem Boyz, a roster containing Maestro, gReazy and Remkoe, of whom have achieved fairly extraordinary results in their current brief existence. So nothing really of note this week for TR. They beat teams below them, and lose to teams above them, but climb one place and break into the top 10 due to a number of the aforementioned teams above them collapsing. -Lunation
