Power Ranking Methodology

These rankings were provided by a committee of people that offer different views in the Rocket League Community. Each member of the committee has a different method for how they rank the teams, though they are consistent and similar. The members of this committee consider several factors when determining their rankings and the data referenced is typically from more than just the most recent week of competition.

Power Ranking Expansion

We wanted to expand the number of members on the Power Ranking Committee, so over the past few weeks we’ve given some of the best applicants a trial run. The trials are now over and as a committee we will vote and bring on some of the applicants permanently.

UPSETS OF THE WEEK

POWER RANKINGS

#1 FlipSid3 Tactics: Markydooda / Kuxir97 / M1k3rules |

After providing a statement victory run in the GFinity 3v3 Invitational 2 weeks ago with big wins against SK, C&J, Spectral, Supersonic Avengers, & myXMG, FlipSid3 Tactics have come back down from cloud 9 with a humbling 3-2 defeat at the hands of the #2 ranked Supersonic Avengers. While this wasn’t enough for me to dethrone F3 for what would be only the 3rd time in the history of the Power Rankings, it certainly shows a slight vulnerability in the armor of FlipSid3 Tactics. With so many teams vying for a spot in the RLC Pro League playoffs, every single game won or lost is absolutely crucial. F3 are without a doubt the favorite to win every match they take place in, but with so many teams circling below like a group of sharks ready to attack, FlipSid3 needs to ensure that they lock away these matches when they have the opportunity and not allow themselves the opportunity to be upstaged. – CloudFuel

#2 Supersonic Avengers: ELMP / gReazy / Maestro / Snaski |

I’m probably going to get a decent amount of flak for this, as is what always happens when deciding positions like #1 and #2, however one of the major criteria for me is who are you winning against? In Supersonic Avengers’ position it comes down to their 3-2 victory against F3 in the pro league. Was it F3’s best showing? No it wasn’t, but given that supersonic avengers are on a good roll here, I believe that given recent results they deserve a jump up. Obviously I can’t forget about the 0-5 against F3 from last week (as I’m sure you’re all thinking about) but when you can come back and win a set against a team than sweeped you, well it shows just how good these teams are and that SA has the mentality to be able to learn from their mistakes -Dirkened

#3 Crown & Jewels: Paschy90 / Yeezy / Killerno7 / Sikiicem |

Despite having one of their best weeks on record, Crown & Jewels continues to remain in 3rd place. Since they hadn’t had the chance to play Supersonic Avengers or FlipSid3 Tactics this week, their successes in the ESL Europe Cup, January Monthly Finals, and Gfinity 3v3 tournament only served to reinforce their current place in the rankings. As the RLC Pro League winds down, Crown & Jewels could have a chance to build more momentum and work their way back up closer to the #1 spot. -Shalthis

#4 myXMG: al0t / Sniperkid138 / Turbopolsa |

After a fairly decent showing in the GFinity 3v3 Invitational, myXMG come back this week with a commanding 5-0 win over Spectral in the RLC Pro league but also fell to The 3 Musketeers 2-3 in the GFinity cup this past Friday. T3M are certainly known to be a team that can up-end many of the highest ranked teams if they are not completely on their game and Spectral are also known for doing the same. The 2-3 to T3M and 5-0 over Spectral show a bit of inconsistency from the myXMG squad, but they have proven their resilience time and time again, even as far back as their ‘Ka-Pow’ days when they first burst onto the scene. They certainly look poised to be a contender for the foreseeable future and just need to tighten up a bit on their consistency to have a shot at breaking into the Top 3. -CloudFuel

#5 SK Gaming: X3MW / Dadooh / JHZER | Up 2

After several weeks of lackluster performance, hints of the old SK Gaming are starting to shine through. With a 3-2 series win during this week’s RLC Pro League against Noble eSports, SK is looking like a team that is finding their footing once again. While they still have a long way to go, the performance of all the teams around them has secured them the #5 spot this week. Their last two weeks of the RPL will be their most challenging as they go toe-to-toe with FlipSid3 Tactics and Crown & Jewels as they desperately fight to earn a spot in the playoffs. -Shalthis

#6 Noble eSports: Skyline / Vogan / Stocki1997 / Meeps |

In what seems to be a growing trend for Noble eSports, the squad fell again this week in the RLC Pro League with a 2-3 loss to SK Gaming. Many had predicted this game to go 3-2 either way, but the match ended up being the closest of the week. Each game was separated by a single goal and the final result was 11 goals for SK Gaming vs 10 goals for Noble eSports. The shot count was skewed a bit more in SK’s direction, but for the most part this set was about as evenly matched as it could possibly be. Noble are without a doubt one of those teams that you do not want to face in a playoff scenario, but they’re going to have to work hard for that opportunity and hope for a little bit of luck from the other teams to net a spot. -CloudFuel

#7 The 3 Musketeers: ViolentPanda / Ryuk / RingTelefonRing | Up 1

Coor, blimey! Finally, a non RLC Pro League team has bumped up into the top 7! With T3M’s increasingly good performances and Spectral’s not so good performances, it was destined to be. This week T3M reached the semi-finals of GFinity, beating myXMG 3-2 and AneVia RL 3-2 along the way. They also reached the finals of the January Monthly Finals this week, taking 2 games off Crown & Jewels, but eventually losing 4-2. It wasn’t all fun & games for T3M though, since they suffered a very surprising loss in the second round of ESL vs. Essence Gaming. This result hasn’t seemed to knock them far though thanks to their great results in the other tournaments. Steadily, T3M climb back up the rankings after suffereing a bit of a fall a few weeks back. Will they continue to rise up or will they fall back down again? Buy my latest issue of “Doomsee Guesses” for £899.99 to find out today!-Doomsee

#8 Spectral: TJShorty / remkoe / Miztik | Down 3

Spectral has been a team that has seen their success fluctuate wildly, but since the addition of Remkoe to the team, they achieved much more success than previously. However, it wasn’t as long lived as the team would have hoped, and after an 0-5 showing against myXMG and a far-too-early exit from Gfinity, Spectral finds themselves in a deep hole. Additionally, Remkoe has decided to part ways with the team, leaving them in a desperate situation going forward. While they have a substitute for the Pro League, their success afterwards hinges entirely on who fills that third spot. -Shalthis

#9 AneVia RL: FaNaTiz / Killarnaud / S_TONYDARK / Chausette45 / PlaY0urLife | Up 1

AneVia jumps up a spot this week after they went MIA in the last, so we get the pleasure of taking a look at their performances in ESL, the January Finals, and in Gfinity. Cooking it all together into one large stew, we can sum up AneVia’s week with: “Rather impressive.” A quarterfinals finish that took T3M to game 5, a bit of an under performance against FireWall in ESL which was a 2-3 loss, but a very solid 3rd place finish in the monthly finals where they beat Stoic, Galactic Lions and forced C&J to game 5. So why does AneVia deserve a unanimous #9 position? Well in both the January Finals and Gfinity they beat or nearly beat teams that are ranked above them (pro tip, beating higher ranked teams is good) and still had a decent outing in ESL. What I really like about AneVia is their persistence so far. Excluding last week, AneVia is showing up to tournaments and getting desirable results, and for a relatively new team making their way up, that is the best way to go about becoming one of the new top teams in EU. -Dirkened

#10 eSports Wall: Intrauzes / Unknow / Kaydop | Down 1

Stoic have been bumped down a spot this week after losing 3-2 to AneVia RL during the ESL January Monthly Finals. Despite making their way to the semi-finals during GFinity, they didn’t meet any major teams until Crown & Jewels took them out 3-0. This, combined with the fact that they didn’t make an appearance at this week’s ESL, means that the only place they could be is at number 10. Stoic are more than capable of taking back that number 9 spot, or maybe going even higher. -Doomsee
