WEEK IN REVIEW
Over the past week teams have competed in ESL, GameBattles 5k, & the IRCL. For the first time in over a month, iBUYPOWER Cosmic and Nexus (Untethered) were both in contention for the ESL Cup, hearkening back to the early days of competitive Rocket League. Cosmic ended up winning that event over Nexus by a score of 4-2. In the GameBattles 5k, NOT were victorious over SnK Apollo but were then later beaten by SnK in their IRCL match (3-2). Newcomers like Average Players, Epitome, and Ubiquitas all had decent showings in this week’s ESL along with fringe teams like Dragonfly, Caramel Macchiato, Failure To Launch, and Astral Authority.

#1 iBUYPOWER Cosmic: Kronovi / Sadjunior / Gibbs / KyleMasc | —
iBP Cosmic just keeps beating everyone in NA. I believe the last time they lost to an NA team was the MLG Pro League Playoffs. Since then they have been on a solid tear. They have been making their games closer against all of NA but continue to pull out win after win. This week they have a tough IRCL schedule with Creamsicle and Nexus as well as the ESL Monthly Finals. If there was any week with a possible loss this could be it. -Gibbs
#2 Kings of Urban: Fireburner / Jacob / Moses | —
The Kings of Urban hold the #2 spot again this week, but mainly due to the achievements they’ve had over the previous weeks as they only had one game this week (a 3-2 win over Fusion Corps Blue). No teams below them really did anything to warrant moving up to this spot either, so they essentially get a bye for a week. Hopefully we’ll see them competing more in the near future to ensure that they do deserve to retain this placing. -CloudFuel
#3 NOT: Klassux / Low5ive / ? | —
The NOT Squad are still at it and keeping up with the impressive standards. While they are still struggling against KoU and iBP Cosmic, they are getting better and better at bringing the games as close as they can. With a strong week against OC, SnK, DE, and the budding Average Players, NOT will still be considered one of the best NA teams. Even though they haven’t been able to play teams like nXs or Jorellis, they have probably gotten the most games in against the top 10 teams which is why it’s fairly easy to find a spot in the rankings for them. Should the finally figure out what they’re doing with Kyle/a third, we just might see some changes to their rankings. -Dirkened
#4 Orange Creamsicle: Edwind / Quinn Lobdell / Gambit | —
After adding Gambit to their roster last week, Orange Creamsicle didn’t play much with him this week as they had Jacob (of KoU) during their ESL run. Like Kings of Urban, OC didn’t have many matches to go off of this week and largely remain in the Top 5 due to the questionable losses of teams ranked below them. -CloudFuel
#5 Nexus: Lachinio / Vafele / Pluto | —
It was a weird week for Nexus. First they lose 3-0 to Moon Men in IRCL but then follow it up with a Finals appearance in ESL where they played against Cosmic and played them well. The only problem was the loss to Moon Men put them in a hole for the week and they didn’t play anyone above them in ESL except for Cosmic. They seem to be getting more inconsistent hopefully they bring their A game this week for the ESL Monthly final and ESL on Sunday. -Gibbs
#6 SnK Apollo: Huskih / fl0w / Azi / PrimeThunder / Lars | —
The only reason SnK is up this high still is because no team around them did anything this week. They lost to, newcomer, Dragonfly in ESL. The past 3 ESL’s they have lost to lesser teams but there is no other team that is staying consistent enough to pass them. They need to fix their problems ASAP if they want to stay near the upper half, or even the entire top 10. -Gibbs
#7 Mad Magic 2.0: SoonTM / SteveGatesRL / zOctanEz | —
Mad Magic struggled a bit this week. They looked pretty strong in the beginning of ESL but were unfortunately reverse sweeped by Moon Men after some uncharacteristic mistakes. No matter though, MM 2.0 is still a very strong team that should be a repeat in the rankings as long as they perform better next week. We obviously can’t ignore their ESL win last week and runner up position in the week before that, so while history isn’t 100% of what we rank on, teams do sometimes hiccup and we can’t tank them because of that. Of course MM 2.0 shouldn’t worry because it was a tough week for a lot of teams, and I have no doubt they’ll have a strong appearance next week. -Dirkened
#7 Jorellis Goodies: Corelli22 / jodari / magicgoodies | Up 1
Jorellis did their usual this week by advancing against weaker opponents to the Quarterfinals of ESL. They then went on to face Nexus for a chance to move up in the rankings. Sadly they fell 3-1. Give it a few more weeks and maybe they can start taking these type of series. -Gibbs
#9 Moon Men: Amoney / ENIGMA_PLEASE / Kerupt | New
After a few weeks of surging steadily upward, the Moon Men have finally arrived! They have continued to net impressive win after impressive win and prove that they deserve to be ranked among the NA elite this week. With wins over Mad Magic 2.0 and Nexus, they’ve shown that they can contend with some of the best that NA Rocket League has to offer. -CloudFuel
#10 Divine Entity: Cinemuh / HotWheelsSid / genocop | Down 1
The team that some love to hate, but fail to see how they are as strong of a team as they are. Although we struggled this week (as with many teams) DE has a ton of potential which they have shown against teams like Mad Magic. And as they continue to play in the 5k tournaments, they are getting critical experience against top teams like NOT. Though, like any team that is right in the 10th position, it will not be easy to hold onto as so many are fighting for this spot; however, as I said before they have been consistently playing against some of the best which will help tremendously. Plus I heard that Cinema got a controller finally. -Dirkened
